Bookbinding with Victoria Lucas

On Saturday the 23rd of April Victoria Lucas came to WYPW and delivered an amazing bookbinding workshop. The participants were taught a variety of different binding techniques, from japanese stab bound to hard back book binding. Not only was this an excellent opportunity to learn these skills, Victoria also brought in a lot of her own entertaining book work. Zine - Making and Self Publishing workshop with Helen Entwisle

These are some images from the wonderful one day Zine making course taught by Helen Entwisle. It took place on the 2nd of April and provided an informative and interesting look into the world of zines. The work produced by the participants were both fantastic and original, and made good use of the many materials and equipment provided by Helen. "Helen was brilliant and knowledgeable"

Japanese Woodblock Printing workshop with Wuon-Gean Ho

Here are a few images from the 3 day Japanese Woodblock Printing workshop on 18th, 19th and 20th February 2011, with artist Wuon-Gean Ho. Participants came away with some amazing prints, some with delicate washes of colour, some with bold, vibrant hues. A fantastic weekend had by all!

Spring / Summer Workshops @WYPW

On 19th and 20th June 2010, Anne Desmet RE RWA SWE came to WYPW to deliver wood engraving workshop. Specialising in wood engraving, she is also editor of Printmaking Today, and her work features in museum collections worldwide.

She offered a wealth of expertise on the subject, providing some amazing examples of her own work, and lots of lovely practice block for everyone to work on. The first day was spent making some test blocks with various tools to experiment with mark-making and test out the different marks each tool was capable of. The 2nd day was then spent with students engraving their own designs onto blocks, and all were printed using hand-burnishing, so no need for a press at all!
